75,000 Aeroplan Bonus Miles with the TD Business Bundle

It is not every day that you will see a 75,000 Aeroplan bonus miles bundle. TD is making such an offer, but there is a bunch of conditions to fulfil along the way, so let’s get the ball rolling. The first condition is that this involves all the business accounts.

Earn 35,000 Miles – Business Credit Card

First off, you can earn up to 35,000 Aeroplan bonus miles with the TD Aeroplan Visa Business Card, which has the following highlights:

  • $149 annual fee
  • $49 annual fee for a supplementary cardholder
  • Earn 35,000 sign up bonus Aeroplan miles (if you apply before June 14, 2017)
  • Earn 1.5 Aeroplan mile for every $1 spent on travel and gas purchases
  • Earn 1 Aeroplan mile for every $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Receive 1 Maple Leaf Lounge Guest Pass each year when travelling on an Aeroplan flight reward operated by Air Canada

The 35,000 Aeroplan bonus miles is broken down as follows:

  • Earn 20,000 miles after the first purchase
  • Earn 10,000 miles after spending $1,000 in the first 90 days of account approval
  • Earn 5,000 miles when the first supplementary cardholder (add by June 14, 2017 and they make their first purchase by July 31, 2017)

Unfortunately, there is no first year fee waiver. You may be able to get part of your fee waived if you open an TD Unlimited Business Plan, which I will be discussing in the following section.

Earn 10,000 Miles – Chequing Business Account

When you open a TD Unlimited Business Plan or TD Every Day Business Plan chequing account, you can earn 10,000 bonus miles. The highlights and conditions are as follows:

TD Unlimited Business Plan

  • $125 monthly fee (waived if minimum balance of $65,000)
  • Unlimited transactions (withdrawals and deposits)
  • $100 rebate off the TD Aeroplan Visa Business Card annual fee ($149 – $100)
  • Update to $120 waived monthly account TD Merchant Services fees

This is where you can get your $149 fee waiver. Also, the $65,000 minimum balance may seem extremely high for someone starting a new business account, but I have two suggestions. If you already have an established business with that much cash flow, this is your opportunity to transfer your banking business over to take advantage of the bonuses. The alternative is that if you are starting a new business and have some seed money (at least $65,000), then you can also take advantage of the fee waiver.

Otherwise, you have a different alternative.

TD Every Day Business Plan

With this bank account, you have three choices:

  • Every Day A $19 (monthly fee waived with $20,000 minimum balance), 20 (free transactions), 50 (free deposits)
  • Every Day B $39 (monthly fee waived with $35,000 minimum balance), 60 (free transactions), 50 (free deposits)
  • Every Day C $72 (monthly fee waived with $45,000 minimum balance), 120 (free transactions), 50 (free deposits)
  • Cost per additional activity ($1.25 per transaction, $0.22 per deposit, $2.50 per $1,000 cash deposit)

This may be a more affordable way to reduce your monthly fees. And $20,000 minimum balance is much lower than the $65,000 requirement above.

Earn 10,000 Miles – Business Loan or Business Line of Credit

Earn 10,000 bonus miles if qualify for a Business Loan or open a Business Line of Credit:

  • With a minimum limit/approved amount of $50,000
  • With a minimum 1-year term
  • Approved and made available by July 31, 2017

If you do not need to borrow any money, you can always qualify for a business line of credit leave it be.

Earn 10,000 Miles – Merchant Solutions Account

If you apply and approved for a new Merchant Solutions Account:

  • With a 3-year agreement term
  • With at least one credit or debit card payment transaction by July 31, 2017

Earn 10,000 Miles – Remote Deposit Capture

If you apply and get approved for a Remote Deposit Capture:

  • Set up for business
  • Made available by July 31, 2017

Conclusion

As you can see, there are no shortages of conditions and fees that you may incur. I would definitely not go out of my way to set up a business just to earn the 75,000 bonus Aeroplan miles. However, if you do have an upcoming business that is being set up, I would strongly consider TD and capitalize on all the available bonus miles. As you can see, there are ways to reduce the fees that you would pay anyway.

Gosh, I remember back in the day when CIBC offered 10,000 bonus Aeroplan miles for creating a new personal savings account and leaving $10,000 for 90 days in the account. Back then, the regular savings interest rate was even over 3%. Those simpler days are long gone. But I am still glad to see these offers by TD. At least they are making an effort.
