It appears that the CIBC Aerogold Visa Card has been discontinued.
- $120 annual fee
- $50 for supplementary cardholders
- Earn 15,000 points after your first card purchase
- Earn 1.5 points for every $1 spent at select CIBC Bonus Rewards establishments, gas, grocery and drug stores
- Earn 1 point for every $1 spent on all other purchases
I cannot say that this credit card will be missed. Beside, there are still 3 other Aeroplan affiliated credit cards available at CIBC: CIBC Aerogold Visa Infinite Privilege Card, CIBC Aerogold Visa Infinite Card and CIBC Aero Platinum Visa Card CIBC Aerogold Visa Card.
The now discontinued CIBC Aerogold Visa Card was very similar to the CIBC Aerogold Visa Infinite Card anyway (which I am currently a cardholder and fairly happy with the credit card for the time being), so it is understandable for this move.
What I am most curious about is how much longer CIBC will keep its partnership with Aeroplan. Personally, I hope that they hang on to the partnership for as long as possible to compete with American Express and TD. A little healthy competition usually benefits the consumers.
