Rogers is trying to step up their game by introducing the Rogers First Rewards program as well as a new credit card to help you earn those points. In terms of the rewards program, you will earn 1 point for every 1 dollar spent on Rogers products.
To help you earn points faster, Rogers introduced the Rogers First Rewards MasterCard which has the following highlights:
- No Annual Fee
- Earn 5,000 sign up bonus points when you make your first purchase
- Earn 2 points for every $1 spent on all purchases
You can redeem your points on a variety of products, such as On Demand movies, discounts off your next smartphone upgrade, etc.
It is also my understanding that once the Rewards program gets phased in system wide, the “multi-product” rebate will be discontinued. That will probably create a lot of unhappy customers. Already there has been a lot of unhappiness towards Rogers, mostly due to its high prices and poor customer service. It is very difficult to side with Rogers when they constantly increase their prices and continue to have poor customers service as I have experience first hand.
But I will give props to this credit card. The no annual fee is great and 2 points for every $1 spent is a decent return. Unfortunately, when you’re stuck with Rogers points, you’re also stuck with Rogers. So weigh your options before making a decision. Ask yourself whether you value the rewards that you can redeem for. But if you do decide to use one or more of Rogers products, then I would recommend this credit card.
