Best Western is one of my favourite hotel chains, which has a hotel loyalty program called Best Western Rewards. I do understand that Best Western hotels are not the more luxurious and glamorous. I also know that Best Western Rewards’ Elite statuses are nothing to brag about, even with the introduction of the Diamond Select status. If these are some of your major preferences, then you probably do not need to continue reading my post.
Even though a household name, I still feel that Best Western is a very under the radar hotel chain. Today, I will list some of the reasons why they are one of my favourite brands.
Points Never Expire
This is actually the on major hotel reward program that doesn’t have any conditions to keep our points active. Not having the headache to figure out how to keep my account active is a major factor on why I am such a big fan of this rewards program.
Best Western hotel rates are generally fairly priced, so I usually have no problem paying for a hotel night with them. Personally, I’m not a big fan of paying for a hotel night, because I rather use points for a free reward night. But there are times when I either do not have enough points for a redemption, no reward night option, etc. Best Western hotels is one of my go-to programs if I need to pay.
With more than 4,100 locations in more than 100 countries around the world, there are many different locations to choose from.
Co-branded Credit Card
We are very fortunate in Canada, where we have the MBNA Best Western Rewards MasterCard. This is a no annual fee credit card that generally offers a 20,000 sign up bonus. We have seen increased sign up bonuses of 40,000, 50,000 and even 60,000. The sign up bonus really helps jump-start the rewards account.
Wide Range of Reward Night Redemptions
Reward night redemptions begin at 8,000 points per night. They increase in increments of 4,000 points for each category, until 36,000 as its highest reward redemption. I usually cash out my points on hotel rooms that are either 12,000 or 16,000 points per night. So a 40,000 sign up bonus can net you 3 free nights on 12,000 points per night, which is very reasonable to me.
