Rundown of Aeroméxico Club Premier for Canadians (updated February 15, 2017)

As Canada and Mexico strength their relationship, directly flights between both countries will probably be more frequent. So it may be worthwhile to find out what options are available to us.

Currently, Air Canada, Air Transat and WestJet and Sunwing (Canadian based airlines) already offer many direct flight options. Conversely, only one Mexican airline flies directly to Canada, Aeroméxico. Talk about competition! Aeroméxico offers a loyalty program called Club Premier where you can earn Premier Kilometers points.

Today, I will talk about the different ways a Canadian can manage their Aeroméxico account. Unfortunately you will find out that there are not too many direct options from Canada. My hope is that Aeroméxico will continue to grow its brand and ties to Canada as time goes on.

Earn Miles

Flights

Other than flying directly with Aeroméxico , you can also earn miles flying with its SkyTeam partners or other codeshare partners:

Other airline partners

  • Aeromar
  • Alaska Airlines
  • Avianca
  • COPA
  • GOL (Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes)

Aside from flying, there are many other ways to earn miles.

Car Rentals

Whenever you rent a car, you can bank your rewards directly towards Aeroméxico miles rather than earning car rental points. Below is a list of car rental companies that you can earn miles with:

  • Avis
  • Budget
  • Hertz
  • Sixt

Hotels

The same concept applies to staying at hotels. Instead of earning hotel points, you can set your account to directly earn miles with AAdvantage instead. However, I generally prefer to earn hotel points.

  • Accor Hotels
  • Best Western Hotels & Resorts
  • Carlson Rezidor Hotels
  • Choice Hotels
  • Fiesta Americana
  • Grupo Real Turismo
  • Hilton Portfolio Hotels
  • Hoteles City Express
  • InterContinental Hotels
  • La Quinta Inns & Suites
  • Las Brisas Hotel Collection
  • Lucerna Hotels
  • Marriott Hotels
  • Meliá Hotels International
  • NH Hotels
  • Nizuc Resort & Spa
  • Starwood Hotels
  • Wyndham Hotels

List of Destinations Departing from Canadian Airports

Aeroméxico currently operates out of three largest airports in Canada and another one beginning later this year.

Toronto Pearson International Airport [YYZ]

  • Aeroméxico: Mexico City

Vancouver International Airport [YVR]

  • Aeroméxico: Mexico City

Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport [YUL]

  • Aeroméxico: Mexico City

Calgary International Airport [YYC]

  • Aeroméxico: Mexico City (begins June 1, 2017)

Going Forward

I really hoped to see more direct routes between Canada and Mexico on Mexican airlines. It would be really great to increase the competition against Canadian-based airlines.
