SPC and Petro-Canada Team Up

Petro-Canada’s rewards program, Petro-Points has teamed up with the SPC program (Student Price Card). You can now redeem 12,000 Petro-Points for an SPC Card.

Once you register your SPC Card with Petro-Canada, you can earn 20% more points with every eligible purchase you make at Petro-Canada.

SPC is a loyalty program that provides students with discounts and deals at over 120 different stores and restaurants across Canada. The program normally costs $10 + $2 of shipping, taxes are included for a total of $12. The card is good for 12 months. So 12,000 Petro-Points is a decent use of your points, because normally I value 1 Petro-Point at 0.09 cent a piece, which would amount to $10.80 in value. So you are actually getting more value by redeeming for an SPC card.

As a student, all you need to do is show your SPC card at one of the participating locations to receive instant savings. The discount offers vary between 10% to 20% off your purchase.

If you are a student, there is no reason why this card should not be in your wallet at all times. As a student, I know most students may not have a car, but you don’t need a car to earn Petro-Points.

There is currently a 30,000 sign up bonus points promotion with the CIBC Petro-Points MasterCard, so you can always jump-start your account this way. Otherwise, you can always make your snack and other purchases in-store if you live near a Petro-Canada station just to beef up your account.
