Prize Details
There are two primary prizes that you can win:
1 of 30 $5,000 daily flight voucher prizes
Grand Prize of $25,000 flight voucher
There is a limit of 1 daily flight prize per member, but the good news is that winning one of the 30 winners of flight prizes will still allow you to win the Grand Prize.
Quite a few changes were made to the American Express Air Miles Reserve Card and BMO Air Miles World Elite MasterCard since I wrote the comparison post, so I thought I’d give a proper update to both cards at the same time. But this time, I added the American Express Platinum Credit Card into the mix as improvements to the card made it a more viable option.
It is no secret that Air Miles has been quite unpopular lately, due to their continued devaluation of reward redemptions and no increase in earning ratios (neither with its credit cards cobranded cards, nor with its partners). That being said, they do have a valuable partnership with LCBO, Ontario’s liquor store. One devaluation that has no occurred (I’m assuming “yet”) is the cash miles options, where you can redeem 95 Air Miles for $10 towards your next LCBO purchase. They now made it easier to redeem the $10 voucher with its new eVoucher option.

Air Miles’ Shop The Block promotion is back!
Air Miles collectors can earn up to 2,000 bonus miles. Below is a breakdown of the promotion:
Shop at participating partners between November 15, 2018 to December 27, 2018.
Earn 300 bonus miles when you use 3 different partner offers
Earn 1,000 bonus miles when you use 5 different partner offers
Earn 2,000 bonus miles when you use 7 different partner offers
Since everyone is focused on back-to-school shopping, you may want to look at the bonus Air Miles’ shopping portal, Airmilesshops. From now until September 9, collectors can get earn up to 1,000 bonus miles through airmilesshops.ca. The bonuses are broken down as follows:
I think that it is safe to say that most of the dust has settled with all the negative publicity with Air Miles.
Negativity with Air Miles
Air Miles was introducing a hard expiry policy of 5 years after miles were deposited, that was going to be effective on December 31, 2016. What that means is that once your miles are deposited into your account, they will expiry within 5 years regardless of expiry. There was going to be a first-in-first-out rule, whereby the miles you redeem will be the ones that were deposited first.
Seems like Aeroplan is getting a lot of positive feedback for teaming up with Amazon.
What may have been lost in the mix is that Air Miles is already a partner with Amazon.ca, where you can earn 1 mile for every $20 spent on its shopping portal Air Miles Shops.
The AIR MILES Travel Hub is a hotel booking engine powered by PointsHound, which has an inventory of over 150,000 hotels and all-inclusive resorts around the world.
When booking your hotel stay through Travel Hub, you can earn bonus Air Mile reward miles. There is a current promotion where you can:
Earn 100 bonus miles after spending $100 or $299
Earn 200 bonus mile after spending $300 or more
The booking needs to be made by September 30, 2017 and the stay must occur before December 31, 2017.
As requested by one of our readers, we will be comparing the American Express AIR MILES Reserve Credit Card and the BMO AIR MILES World Elite MasterCard.
