The Top Credit Card Spending Bonuses (updated April 23, 2014)

As discussed in a previous post, I was hoping to see more bonuses when credit card holders reach a minimum amount of spending in a calendar year. Giving bonuses for minimum spend requirements actually helps encourage customers to retain their credit cards for a longer period of time. I would think that it is more profitable for a credit card company to retain customers, rather than having them cancel their credit cards instead, especially with credit cards where only the first year annual fees are waived. So it would make sense to me that there should be incentives to help keep customers from one year to the next.

Below is a list of some of the top current credit card spending bonuses that offer some of the better incentives:

American Express Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card

  • Earn 1 point for every $1 spent on all purchases

  1. For spending bonus, you missed RBC British Airways Visa Infinite. $30,000 gets the carholder a companion Award ticket, matching any Award! So I fyou redeem Avios for YYZ-BKK in BA F, you get a second free (taxes, fees, surcharges extra).
