[AIRLINE] 2014 Changes to the Air Canada Altitude Program

You can read more about the Elite statuses: Elite 25K, Elite 35K, Elite 50K, Elite 75K and Elite 100K.

Below are the list of changes that became effective in March 2014 to the Elite statuses.

Complimentary access to Montreal Maple Leaf Lounge for travel to Toronto City Airport

  • This privilege has been added to Altitude Prestige 25K members when travelling on a same-day flight operated by Air Canada Express from Montreal to Toronto City Airport. The Maple Leaf Lounge is located in the domestic departure zone of Montreal Trudeau Airport.

Maple Leaf Lounge One-Time Guest Passes

  • Maple Leaf Lounge One-Time Guest Passes may only be used at Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges located in the domestic and transborder departures zones of Canadian airports, along with those in Los Angeles and New York (LaGuardia).

eUpgrade Add-ons and eUpgrade Eligibility Changes

  • eUpgrade Add-ons will apply to Altitude Elite 75K, Elite 50K, Elite 35K and Prestige 25K members travelling with Flex fares that are eligible for an upgrade between Canada and Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia and South America.
  • eUpgrade Add-ons will not apply to upgrade requests made by Altitude Super Elite 100K members or Altitude members travelling on a Latitude fare. Additionally, Add-ons will not apply to travel within Canada, between Canada and the United States or Sun destinations.

They are not the most significant changes, but some to keep in mind. Keep in mind that the Altitude program is different from the Aeroplan program. They are earn in conjunction with each other. Altitude points are earned by flying on Air Canada operated flights. But when you fly on an Air Canada flight, you can also earn Aeroplan points at the same time, which makes Air Canada flights an automatic double dipping opportunity. So kudos to Air Canada on that! Aeroplan points can be earned when you fly on any Star Alliance partner flight.
