Aeroplan Offering 35% Conversion Bonus (Highest Ever!)

Aeroplan is really making an effort to step up their game, as their contract ends with Air Canada. I am uncertain what their long term plans are at the moment, probably trying to find new partners. However, in the meantime, they are definitely trying to make a splash.

How the Offer Works

They are currently offering their best conversion bonus ever. You can now receive a 35% bonus for transferring your hotel points. They normally offer a tiering system where you earn anywhere between 20%-30% transfer bonus.

So this 35% is higher than ever before. Furthermore, there is no tiering, every transfer gets the same bonus. There may still be a minimum transfer depending on which hotel program. There also does not appear to be any maximum bonus. It could change over the course of the promotional period where they may add additional conditions, who knows.

The point is, from now until August 21, 2017, you can take advantage of this bonus offer.

List of Transfer Partners

  • Best Western Rewards
  • Choice Privileges
  • Coast Rewards
  • Club Carlson
  • Golden Circle Award (Shangri-La Hotels)
  • Hilton HHonors
  • Marriott Rewards
  • Le Club Accorhotels (Accor hotels)
  • Starwood Preferred Guest
  • Wyndham Rewards

Should you take Advantage?

Personally, I generally like to keep my hotel points where they are. I get a lot of value redeeming for hotel stays. However, if you have hotel points that you no longer plan on using or you can get more value out of Aeroplan, then go for it!

As usual, always do your calculations first to determine what gives you more value. It is always better to have a specific reward redemption in mind so that you have more concrete numbers to work with.

  1. The US travel blogs are spinning this, saying that you would be able to increase the number of Aeroplane points you get if you choose AC as the airline when using Marriott points for the Marriott 7 night hotel + airlinepoints packages.
Does this look doable to you? If so, how about a step-by-step on how to accomplish this within the Aeroplane transfer guidelines.

  2. @Hannah,

No one is spinning anything. Instead of asking for clarification you accuse other blogs of “spinning”

Sounds like the only thing spinning is your head!

What don’t you understand? When you redeem a Marriott Travel Package it comes with 7 nights (cat. 1-5 hotel) and 120K Aeroplan miles when Marriott transfers those miles it generates the 35% bonus so you get a total of 162K Aeroplan miles.

Thank -you … and your welcome!

    1. Wow. A bit of an aggressive response imo. You zeroed in on the word “spinning” and took the poster to task. Lighten up.
