[ANALYSIS] Earning Hudson’s Bay Reward Points

With Nordstrom starting to open up in Canada, I see them putting some pressure on the Hudson Bay Company, who have a rewards program called the Hudson’s Bay Rewards. So today, we will talk about the different ways that you can earn Hudson Bay Rewards more quickly. First off, depending on which tier you are in, you will earn a different amount of points:

Tier 1: Hudson’s Bay Rewards

  • Spend between $1 to $399.99 (before taxes) every calendar year
  • Earn 1 point for every $1 spent at Hudson’s Bay, Home Outfitters, thebay.com (some exclusions apply)

Tier 2: Hudson’s Bay Rewards Plus

  • Spend between $400 to $1,199.99 (before taxes) every calendar year and make at least 2 separate purchase visits (in 2 different locations or on 2 different dates)
  • Earn 1.5 point for every $1 spent at Hudson’s Bay, Home Outfitters, thebay.com (some exclusions apply)

Tier 3: Hudson’s Bay Rewards VIP

  • Spend $1,2000 or more (before taxes) every calendar year
  • Earn 2 point for every $1 spent at Hudson’s Bay, Home Outfitters, thebay.com (some exclusions apply)

You can also earn points with the Hudson’s Bay MasterCard:

  • No annual fee
  • Earn 2 points on every $1 you on all purchases
  • Earn a 25% bonus twice a year on points earned at of Hudson’s Bay, www.thebay.com, and Home Outfitters

Earn points doing surveys with AskingCanadians.

You can exchange Esso Extra points to HBC Rewards. You will need to exchange blocks of 500 up to a maximum 150,000 Esso Extra Points and receive 560 points (for every 500 Esso Extra points) up to a maximum of 168,000 Hudson’s Bay Rewards Points, per transaction.

Keep in mind that each HBC point is worth 0.5 cent each. So earning 2 points for every $1 spent is like earning 1% cash back.
