Aeroplan Members now have Access to Star Partner Locator

When selecting seats on an Aeroplan reward flight, members now have access to the Star Alliance partner site online. This feature eliminates the need to call the Aeroplan Contact Centre to select seats when flying on a Star Alliance carrier. Instead, members can now go directly to the Star Alliance carrier site using the Star Alliance record locator to select their seat.

Review of Carrot Rewards

Carrot Rewards has become quite a popular App since expanding outside of British Columbia, where it originally started. Carrot Rewards has expanded to Ontario, as well as Newfoundland and Labrador. Seems like they have some plans to expand to more provinces, so be on the lookout for that!

Tip- If you have a family or friend living on one of those provinces, you may be able to borrow their postal code. The precaution I would take is whether the postal code on your loyalty account matches.

Thoughts on the Aeroplan and Air Canada Breakup

Based on the wording from an Aeroplan news release, it may seem like the the door is left open for them to renew their contract. I mean, there is still 3 years to go before it expires. So for the time being, it is business as usual for Aeroplan members.

From Air Canada’s perspective, they seem more firm that their plan is to launch its own loyalty program.

Frustrations with Aeroplan… What to do about it!

This is more of a continuation of Avery’s post (Aeroplan has a little problem…) from DTCA about problems with Aeroplan.

Normally, I much prefer not writing any negative posts, because this blog is suppose to be about maximizing rewards with some tips and tricks. But when we hit too many roadblocks, it may feel like our suggestions are not even useful.

Bringing luggage onto the plane, whether checked-in or carry-on, has become such a complicated issue since the introduction of the pay-per use for the past few years. It seems like it will only get more problematic when costs are attached to carry-ons. As a result, the free checked bag offer from credit cards is only going to become more valuable.

Below is an updated list of credit cards that offer a free checked bag, ranked by annual fees:
