Forgotten AIR MILES Shopping Portal (including Amazon)

Seems like Aeroplan is getting a lot of positive feedback for teaming up with Amazon.

What may have been lost in the mix is that Air Miles is already a partner with Amazon.ca, where you can earn 1 mile for every $20 spent on its shopping portal Air Miles Shops.

50 Bonus Miles Promotion

There is a promotion right now where you can earn 50 bonus miles when you make purchases at two or more online stores between March 8, 2018 and April 12, 2018.

Note that regular miles can take up to 60 days from purchase to appear, while bonus miles may take up to 120 days from purchase.

Why Air Miles Seems to be Forgetten

When Aeroplan announced its team-up with Amazon, it does seem bizarre that they receive so much positive attention, when Air Miles was already a partner all along.

Unfortunately for Air Miles, with the whole miles expiry fiasco over the past few years, along with devaluations for reward redemption, lack of award availability, long wait times, etc. It seems like Air Miles has been a forgotten program.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, a high quality program will be the one who receives the most positive attention. Companies do need to find that balance between offering value and being profitable.

So my advice has always been the same. Diversify your portfolio. Earn and burn as you achieve your goals, so that you know what value you are getting (see Pointshogger 101).
