Hotels Offer Free Showers and Breakfast to Truck Drivers

Not quite what I was trying to lobby in my previous post, but this might be even better.

Free Breakfast and Shower

Three hotels in Saskatchewan are being highlights in an article. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites North Battleford, the Western Star and Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Regina East Gate have been offering truck drivers passing by a free shower and breakfast (or even supper) at the hotels.

Putting Hotels to Use

Just a quick update on my lobbying of making better use of hotels in Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic. I do not think my post made any difference, but either way, it looks like governments are starting to make use of the hotels.

Toronto to lease hundreds of hotel rooms to ease crowding in homeless shelters – I really love this move by the city of Toronto to reinvest back into the local economy. London, Ontario have also made the same move as Toronto (Hotels for now, but what’s ahead for homeless post-COVID-19?) as a temporary solution. In Laval, Quebec, The Quality Suites Hotel is housing up to 130 mental health and palliative care patients.

Hope to See More Hotels Put to Use

If you see any other news about hotels being put to use, feel free to share the links in the comment section below. I would love to add them to today’s post.

I am just glad to see money being reinvested back into the local economy. Hotels are well equipped to handle different scenarios, mine as well put them to use and keep jobs!
