[AIRPORT] New Proposed Pickering Airport

There is a proposal to build an international airport north-east of Toronto in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. This airport is intended to alleviate some of the pressure off the Toronto Pearson International Airport. In June 2013, the federal government confirmed that the construction will go ahead with the intention for the airport to be operational by 2027.

Conversely, there are those who oppose building the airport.

The way I see it is that in New York City, they have 3 surrounding airports: LaGuardia Airport (LGA), John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). With the Greater Toronto Area’s population ever increasing, it would only make sense to me to have another airport.

The Pickering airport would not only serve the people living in the East of Toronto, but also the cities and towns east of Toronto. The project is still a very long way from completion, but the airport is going to be a game changer for travellers living in the region who can take advantage of the flights.

I would be in support of creating a new airport. What are your thoughts?
