Shop The Block Promotion with Air Miles

UPDATE: See the AIR MILES Gift Guide: The Holiday Edition for holiday gift ideas that you can redeem your miles with.

Air Miles’ Shop The Block promotion is back!

Air Miles collectors can earn up to 2,000 bonus miles. Below is a breakdown of the promotion:

  • Shop at participating partners between November 15, 2018 to December 27, 2018.
  • Earn 300 bonus miles when you use 3 different partner offers
  • Earn 1,000 bonus miles when you use 5 different partner offers
  • Earn 2,000 bonus miles when you use 7 different partner offers

I value 1 Air Mile at 11 cents a piece. So 2,000 bonus miles is worth $220. I would not go out of my way to earn these bonus miles, but if you had some shopping to do anyway, you mine as well see if you can take advantage of this bonus!

  1. Hi Matt, I’ve been collecting Air Miles this year while buying things that I need anyway. Because of that I’ve been able to fly and visit family to places like YGK, YTZ and other places in Ontario while only paying reasonable surcharge fees. Life is good for me right now because I don’t have time for the high profile First Class redemptions. Because of that I love these promotions! Those 2,000 Air Miles will cover my next family visit. Thanks for sharing!

  2. A challenge for me is that you have specific dates and specific spend qualifications at merchants that makes this a less exciting promotion. For example at Rona to earn for this promotion you must purchase an appliance, and that appliance purchase must be over $500. Yikes. And it has to happen during specific dates.

  3. Is Air Miles worth collecting anymore? I just tried looking up flights from London ON to St. John’s NL in July 2019 and could find a few flights that were less than 4900 AM – nowhere near the 1870 points starting point for high season (save 15% with BMO AIR MILES World Elite MC). The only flight I did see for 1870 had an overnight in Halifax (not practical though adventurous). I do realize that YYT is a desirable vacation destination in the summer but the amount of reward miles needed for a flight is getting ridiculous. I am ready to give up on AM.
Is there a better air travel card out there?
