How to Earn Aeroplan Miles on Non-Star Alliance

As a Canadian, I revolve my frequent flying earning between two major programs which dominate most of our country: Air Miles and Aeroplan. While you can earn and use Aeroplan points on Star Alliance partners, there are also many other ways you can earn your Aeroplan miles.

Below you can find a list of non-Star Alliance airline partners in which you can earn Aeroplan miles:

Jet Airways
  • Earned when flights are booked, ticketed and sold by Air Canada.
Middle East Airlines
  • Earned when you send in original boarding pass and legible copy of your ticket to the Aeroplan Centre after travelling.

If you’re flying to a remote destination, you may want to consider the airlines mentioned above as you can still continue to earn Aeroplan miles while flying on some non-Star Alliance airlines.

Sometimes travelling through work may not permit us the flexibility of choosing a Star Alliance flight, but if we happen to fly these Non Air Alliance airlines, our miles will not be thrown away. For flights operated by Air Creebec, Bearskin Airlines, Calm Air, Canadian North, and First Air, long haul flights will earn you 100% of the miles back.

The Bottom Line

Being a major contributor to our list of frequent loyalty programs in Canada, Aeroplan provides us the availability of earning its miles in many different forms. Not only can we earn miles while we fly, in a previous post, we also discussed about earning miles through credit cards, taking surveys, testing cars and through online shopping portals to name a few.
