If you have not noticed already, over the past 12 months or so, Pointshogger has taken a different direction. So when we see comments like these:
- grimex: “how much time do you spend formulating and writing each of your blog posts ? 5 minutes only ? That shows!”
… it reminds us that we should really update our readers on what is new!
Changes to our lives has reduced the amount of time that has been spent on Pointshogger, which undoubtedly changed the style and frequency of posts. You may have noticed that we are posting less frequently and gone from analytical to more update-based posts. However, we are also always open to suggestions for post ideas. Feel free to leave a note in any of our comment sections.
Going forward, you will probably continue to see this trend of 10-15 posts per month (rather than 30+ previously), and more update based posts for the foreseeable future. The purpose of our posts is to provide insights for those who want to get started or want to play the rewards game within a manageable scale. Many people feel that the industry is very complicated, the aim of Pointshogger is to help simplify common misconceptions.
Another initiative that we are hoping to expand is promote up and coming blogs/websites with an interview so that you can share your ideas and aspirations with us! We understand (and can relate) that it is not easy to get things going, so we are more than happy to be one of your launching platforms. If you fall under this category, feel free to email us any time (using the Contact Us box towards the bottom of the page). Keep in mind that it does need to be travel and/or rewards (miles, points, cash back) related.
Check out other Canadian Sites
If your interests do not align with our content, then I am more than happy to redirect you to some of the other Canadian bloggers who have excellent content that may be more relevant to you.
The more established ones (who have been around for at least 3+ years) include:
Be on the lookout for the up and comers:
- PointsNerd (interview)
- Points Miles and Bling (interview)
- Pekflyer (interview)
- Prince of Travel (interview)
Keep in mind that there is always a balance of what we share and do not share on our blog. This is why PointsU (interview) exists, so that you can learn the secrets in person. If you missed the last one, you won’t want to miss the next one!
Lastly, there can be a lot of debate when it comes this sensitive topic (i.e. maximizing miles and points). Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but always keep in mind that we have the option of closing our loyalty accounts and switching to cash back credit cards to reduce frustration.
Thank you for your Support
On a brighter note, for those of you who have continually supported us, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Without you, we may not necessarily have kept this blog going for as long as it has (just passed 4 years in October 2017)!
